New fledgling “firsts” and family dinner – June 15th, 2012

One of the fledglings was eating a squirrel in “Quantico” or The Hunting Grounds when I arrived at Washington Square Park. There was no way to know who killed the squirrel (whether one of the parents Bobby or Rosie had) or one of the two fledglings.

The Washington Square Hawk fledglings amazed me today with their impressive high-flying skills. They landed on high building perches and palled around before circling together over the park again.

I spotted one of the fledglings flying to the Bobst Library roof upon my arrival to Washington Square Park today. I liked seeing the red glow of the library’s stone reflected on the fledgling’s belly:
